together, we are

opening doors

We aim to build a global community of changemakers who empower young women from underserved communities through meaningful mentorship,
opening doors to professional and personal success.

Why Mentorship Matters

Our Why

Mentorship matters

Education alone isn’t enough. Many young women face challenges transitioning from school to the workforce. Mentorship bridges this gap by providing career guidance, skill-building, and professional networks that help them thrive.

Our structured mentorship program matches young women in Kenya with professionals from around the world. Together, we foster growth, leadership, and lasting impact.

Life is a series of doors—those
that open for us and those we
choose to open for others.

A Purposeful Journey

Our story began with a letter

In 2019, our founder, Michelle Sutter, began sponsoring the university education of a young woman in Kenya named Marslider. They exchanged letters and built a meaningful connection rooted in encouragement and shared stories.

For her graduation, Michelle flew to Kenya to surprise her. Watching Marslider cross the stage was unforgettable—education had opened a door, but without networks or career support, her next steps remained uncertain.

Michelle knew the story couldn’t end there. She founded the Opening Doors Foundation to ensure women like Marslider have the mentorship, guidance, and connections they need to build meaningful careers.

Today, Marslider is a founding team member, helping build a program for others walking the same path.
